Flatwork ironing

PB Series Flatwork Ironers

Girbau PB Series flatwork ironer with feeder and folder

The PB Series is the professional answer to flatwork: sheets, duvet covers, table linen, pillowcases and napkins finished to a standard your guests notice, at speeds up to 15 metres a minute. Kinematic strap tensioning, a chrome Care Touch roll and 270° of linen contact do the work, while Inteli control makes the operator's job simple and repeatable.

Precision engineering for perfect results

The difference between a passable finish and a professional one is even tension, even heat and a roll surface that stays true for years. Every detail of the PB Series is designed to deliver flawless ironing, maximise productivity and extend the life of your linen.

Kinematic tensioning system

Girbau's patented system maintains a permanent balance of tensions and weights between rolls, ensuring uniform pressure and a perfectly smooth finish on every piece, edge to edge.

Care Touch Roll

Mirror-polished, chrome-plated roller with a 270 degree linen contact angle. Excellent ironing quality, longer fabric life, and corrosion resistance even after extended periods of inactivity.

Autospeed technology

Ironing speed adjusts automatically to fabric type and moisture level, holding roll temperature even and stable so quality does not drop when the load changes.

Inteli control interface

Icon-based display showing programme, real and programmed temperature, speed and article length, while advising the operator on the most productive operating mode.

Optifeed guidance

The display indicates the feeding area with the highest temperature in real time, so operators place linen where the heat energy actually is and use the full width of the machine.

Automatic folding on PBP

PBP models include a one-way automatic folder with photocell detection. It calculates item length, adjusts the primary folding and delivers up to 14 precise folds automatically.

Multi-lane feeding

Feed 1, 2 or 4 lanes at once. One lane for sheets, two for table linen, four for napkins and pillowcases, all without changing machine or programme.

Built to last

Metal safety covers, mirror-polished chrome roll, temperature-resistant bearings and a gear motor-inverter transmission for secure, low-wear operation.

Radiant gas mixture

The enriched gas mixture on Radiant models lifts production by up to 24 percent, so the same footprint clears more linen per shift.

The patent

A patent that makes the difference

The Kinematic tensioning system patented by Girbau is one of the key factors behind the quality finish achieved by PB ironers. It maintains a permanent balance of tensions and weights between the different rolls, using strap movement to rebalance continuously and achieve a genuinely professional result.

  • Permanent tensioning via kinematic strap balance across all rolls
  • Care Touch Roll with a 270 degree contact angle for high-speed ironing
  • Chrome-plated roller resists corrosion even after periods of inactivity
  • Up to 15 m/min ironing speed on PB51 models
  • Up to 24 percent more production with the Radiant enriched gas mixture

Productivity

Feeding and automatic folding

The PB Series supports 1, 2 or 4 simultaneous feeding lanes for all types of linen: sheets, table linen and small items like napkins and pillowcases. PBP models incorporate an intelligent one-way automatic folder that adapts to every article without interrupting the process.

  • Up to 4 simultaneous feeding lanes for different textile types
  • Optifeed guides linen entry to maximise productivity
  • Photocell system calculates total length and adjusts primary folding
  • Up to 14 primary folds in automatic mode
  • Manual and advanced modes give operators control over fold count
  • Adapts to all article types without needing to change programme

Labour

The ironer is a labour decision, not a linen decision

Flatwork is where laundry labour goes to die. Hand-folding sheets consumes more hours than any other task in an on-premise laundry, and the output is inconsistent. A PB Series line converts that labour into throughput per operator, which is the only productivity number that moves the P&L.

  • Iron and fold in one pass, so linen leaves the room ready to go on a shelf
  • Less operator skill required, so new staff are productive quickly
  • Consistent presentation across every shift and every operator
  • Fewer rewashes caused by creasing and poor handling

Safety and durability

Built for operator safety and long service life

Operator safety and long-term reliability are built into the structure, not bolted on. The PB Series pairs ergonomic design and active hand guard protection with hard-wearing metal construction throughout.

  • Active hand guard protection with double sensor monitoring
  • Start-up safety check before the roll turns
  • Metal safety covers and removable side panels for fast access
  • Easy-clean lint filter and accessible routine maintenance points
  • Gear motor-inverter drive with reduced wear
  • Permanently temperature-resistant bearings
  • Wide feeding belt with clear foot access for natural operator posture

Control

Intelligent control in every detail

Autospeed captures precise sensor data and adjusts ironing speed by fabric type and moisture level, maintaining an even, stable temperature throughout. The Inteli panel then shows the operator exactly what the machine is doing and where to feed next.

  • Programme, real and programmed temperature, speed and article length on one screen
  • Optifeed display indicates the hottest feeding area in real time
  • Speed adapts automatically rather than letting the roll cool below target
  • Guidance toward the most productive operating mode for the linen in front of you

Specifying

Roll diameter and width, and why both matter

Roll diameter determines how much heated contact each item gets, so it sets your maximum speed. Roll width determines how many lanes you can feed at once. Getting the pairing wrong is the most common reason an ironer underperforms its brochure numbers.

  • Narrow rolls suit boutique hotels and aged care processing sheets one at a time
  • Wider rolls justify themselves the moment you can run two or four lanes
  • Always pair the ironer with high-extraction washing so you can iron straight from the washer
  • Allow floor length for the feeder and folder, not just the ironer cabinet

Frequently asked questions

What is a PB wall ironer?

A wall-mounted-style flatwork ironer that presses linen against a heated, chrome-plated roll rather than between two heated surfaces. It suits laundries that need hotel-quality flatwork without the footprint or capital of a full industrial ironing line.

What roller sizes and configurations are available?

325 mm diameter rolls on the PB32 models and 510 mm rolls on the PB51 models, in working widths from 1,500 mm up to 3,200 mm, with 1, 2 or 4 feeding lanes depending on width.

Does the automatic folder come standard?

The folder is what makes a PBP a PBP. PB models iron only, PBP models add the one-way photocell folder with up to 14 primary folds. If flatwork folding is currently done by hand, that is usually where the payback sits.

What heating options are available?

Electric, gas or steam depending on model. Gas is typically the lowest running cost where a supply exists, steam suits sites already running a boiler, and the Radiant enriched gas mixture lifts production by up to 24 percent.

What advantages does the PB have over other ironers?

The patented kinematic tensioning system and the 270 degree Care Touch Roll contact angle. Together they give even pressure and more heated contact per pass, which is what allows both a better finish and a higher speed than comparable machines.

Can I iron straight from the washer?

With a high-extraction 450G washer, yes for most flatwork. That removes the dryer step entirely for sheets and table linen, saving both energy and cycle time. Lower-extraction washers usually need a preconditioning tumble first.

What speed will I actually achieve?

Between 5 and 15 metres a minute depending on model, linen dampness, fabric and roll temperature. Autospeed protects quality by adjusting speed automatically rather than letting the roll cool below target.

What types of laundries can use a PB ironer?

Hotels, hospitals, aged care, restaurants and function venues, commercial and industrial laundries, and textile care services. Anywhere flat linen volume justifies finishing it properly rather than folding by hand.

How much space do I need?

Plan for the ironer cabinet plus feeding and folding length either side, and clear operator access at the feed end. We produce a room layout drawing as part of the design stage.

How is it maintained, and what support is there?

Routine work is roll waxing, strap inspection and lint filter cleaning, all quick thanks to removable metal side covers. Machines carry the official Girbau warranty, extendable via MyGirbau registration, and our national technicians can hold the machine on a scheduled maintenance plan.
