Between 25 and 40 percent of the energy used in a commercial laundry goes into heating water, and almost all of it leaves through the drain. AquaTherm recovers 60 to 90 percent of that energy and puts it straight back into the incoming cold supply, cutting a typical laundry's total energy bill by around 25 percent. Aqualogic is the authorised AquaTherm dealer in Australia, supplying and supporting the core four systems: Micro, Midi, Maxi and Monster.

If you stop energy and water leaving the building, you never have to buy them again. Every AquaTherm system shares the same DNA: industry leading heat recovery, precise control, and a design that runs for years without cleaning or routine maintenance.
Double helix stainless tube
At the heart of every unit is a unique stainless steel tube formed internally and externally into a double helix. It keeps waste water in high turbulence, which stops lint and dirt sticking and lifts heat transfer by 75 percent compared with plain tube.
Shell and tube counter flow
Up to 1,200 metres of tube carries waste water through the exchanger while fresh water flows around the outside of every tube in perfect counter flow, transferring up to 90 percent of the available energy in minutes.
No routine maintenance
Laundry effluent is a cocktail of chemicals, dirt, lint and fibre that blocks conventional exchangers. Controlled velocity and turbulence keep AquaTherm clear, with no cleaning schedule and no sophisticated pre-filtration required.
Factory connected monitoring
Every unit is designed to be connected online from the factory for remote monitoring and support. Flows, temperatures, performance and cost savings are displayed transparently and retained in memory.
Hot rinsing as a by-product
Hotter rinse water means less moisture retained after extraction. A drier load, heated all the way through, dries faster, which lifts output and saves energy a second time in the dryer.
Modular from 1,000 L/h upward
The core four cover everything from a boutique on-premise laundry at 1,000 litres per hour to a multi-module tunnel plant well past 100,000 litres per hour, using the same proven exchanger technology.
How it works
Recover the energy before it reaches the drain
Every kilowatt used in a laundry is eventually lost to the drain or the atmosphere, and has to be bought again as new energy. AquaTherm intercepts the hot waste water on its way out and uses it to preheat the incoming cold process water, reducing the steam or gas demand for washing to a small fraction of what it was.
25 to 40 percent of laundry energy is spent heating water, and all of it is currently wasted
60 to 90 percent of that energy is recovered, depending on temperatures and flows
Recovered heat lets you wash at 85 degrees or higher without the energy bill that usually follows
Effluent leaves the building only a few degrees above the incoming cold supply, which protects you against trade waste temperature penalties
The engineering
Why this exchanger survives laundry water
Shell and tube is the most efficient way to move heat between two liquids without contact. The reason most laundries never installed one is that laundry water blocks them. AquaTherm solved that with tube geometry rather than filtration.
Sectional construction linked with continuous tubular headers keeps the footprint compact
Specially formed stainless tubes create controlled velocity and a high degree of turbulence
Turbulence keeps lint and dirt in suspension instead of on the tube wall
Handles waste water from any number and any type of washing machines, washer extractors or tunnel washers
Very high heat recovery maintained across a long working life, not just in the first year
The tube
A double helix that cleans itself
Every AquaTherm tube is formed internally and externally into a double helix. That shape is the whole secret: it holds the waste water in constant turbulence, so lint and chemical residue never settle on the tube wall and the exchanger never needs opening up.
High turbulence keeps lint, dirt and fibre in suspension instead of fouling the tubes
Heat transfer is 75 percent better than a plain tube of the same length
The same tube design runs in every model from Micro to Monster
No cleaning schedule and no routine maintenance across the working life of the system
The range
One proven exchanger, four ways to size it
All AquaTherm models share the same DNA and design principles, with industry leading rates of heat recovery and precision control. The difference between them is simply how much water your laundry puts through them each hour.
Micro suits smaller commercial and on-premise laundries and arrives fully packaged: buffer tanks, controls, sensors and pumps pre-wired and tested
Midi suits medium commercial laundries, with the exchanger paired to separate external buffer tanks that can sit where the room allows
Maxi suits large commercial laundries and tunnel plants, running nearly a kilometre of spiral tube through the exchanger
Monster suits the largest plants and scales in modules, so capacity grows line by line as the laundry grows
Every unit is factory connected online for remote monitoring, with flows, temperatures and cost savings displayed transparently and retained in memory
The business case
Where the savings actually land
Heat recovery is not only an energy line item. It shortens cycles, unblocks the dryer bottleneck, reduces boiler loading and improves linen quality, which is why payback lands between six and eighteen months in most Australian laundries.
Preheating the cold supply can save up to 10 minutes in a 60 minute washer extractor cycle
Drying times cut by 20 to 30 percent, often removing the need to buy another dryer
Overall plant steam consumption down 20 to 30 percent, with a flatter demand curve
Reduced boiler loading can defer a boiler replacement and free capacity for more turnover
Better rinsing and starch dispersion, so linen feels better and lasts longer
Less steam means less treated boiler water, so water and chemical costs fall too
Before you buy
The AquaTherm Simulator, at no cost
Every laundry is different, so the optimum solution is rarely obvious. The AquaTherm Simulator models your site across ten key areas, then we reconcile the modelled result against your actual utility bills before running what-if scenarios. It is a free service and it is the honest way to decide whether a system is worth installing at all.
Water supply and water disposal costs
Energy for washing, and energy for drying and finishing
Chemical consumption and linen replacement
Productivity and kWh per kilogram processed
CO2 emissions and return on investment
Installation
Plug and play at the small end, planned at the large end
The AquaTherm Micro is a fully packaged water and energy system: fresh and waste buffer tanks, control panel, level sensors, flow valves, temperature sensors and waste pumps, all pre-wired and tested. Floor space is minimal and configurable, so even a crowded plant room can take one.
Connect fresh water, install pump and waste pipe connections
Fix the level sensor to the pit, then plug in pump and sensor
Connect electricity and compressed air, and it is ready to run
Midi and Maxi use separate external buffer tanks that can be sited apart from the exchanger to suit the room
Monster is modular, so tanks and pumps are sized to the application with a longer planning and install phase
The core four AquaTherm systems
All four share the same exchanger technology and control philosophy. The right one is determined by your hourly water flow, not by the size of your building.

Options and supporting equipment
Most installations need nothing more than the unit itself. These options solve specific site problems where they exist.
Options and supporting equipment
Option
What it does
When you need it
Steam or electric post heating
Tops up recovered water to final wash temperature
When you want to remove the central hot water system entirely
Post heat recovery filtration
Filters water after recovery, cutting effluent charges and reuse volumes
Where trade waste charges are high or water reuse is the goal, can cut consumption by a third
Aquascreen rotary screen filtration
Removes debris and coarse material before it reaches pumps
Where lint and solids risk blocking pumps and pits
Insulated tanks and scavenger pumps
Stores waste water without losing the heat you are trying to recover
Where waste currently sits in an uninsulated pit or underfloor drain
pH control
Keeps effluent inside the consent limits set by the water authority
Where temperature, pH or solids limits carry financial penalties
Aquasteam
Uses recovered warm water with steam injection so process water arrives already heated
Where the laundry runs on cold water and live steam rather than a conventional hot water system, lifting productivity
Options are specified from the simulator output, so you only pay for what actually improves the result.

Frequently asked questions
How much energy will AquaTherm actually recover in my laundry?
Between 60 and 90 percent of the energy in your waste water, depending on your temperatures and flows. Across a whole site that typically reduces total energy consumption by around 25 percent. The simulator gives you a site-specific figure before you commit to anything.
What is the payback period?
Most installations repay the investment in six to eighteen months once energy, water, drying time and productivity gains are counted together. Sites with high gas or trade waste costs sit at the faster end of that range.
Will it block up with lint and chemicals like other heat exchangers?
No. That is exactly the problem AquaTherm was engineered around. The double helix tube keeps waste water in a state of high turbulence so solids stay in suspension rather than settling on the tube wall, which is why the systems run without cleaning or routine maintenance.
Which model do I need?
It is decided by peak hourly water flow. Micro covers 1,000 to 10,000 litres per hour, Midi 7,000 to 17,000, Maxi 17,000 to 27,000 and Monster starts at 27,000 and scales in modules. We measure or model your flow rather than guessing from machine count.
How disruptive is the installation?
The Micro is genuinely plug and play: position it, connect water, electricity and compressed air, locate the scavenger pumps and it runs. Midi and Maxi need buffer tanks positioned and connected. Monster is modular and needs more planning, which we handle as part of the project.
Does it help with trade waste compliance?
Yes. Because the heat is stripped out before the water leaves, effluent goes to drain only a few degrees above the incoming cold supply, which keeps you clear of temperature penalties. pH control and filtration options are available where consent limits also cover pH and solids.
Can I still use low temperature chemistry?
You can, but many laundries find recovered heat cheaper than low temperature chemical programs. With AquaTherm you can wash at 85 degrees or higher without the usual energy penalty, then trade that back for shorter process times or reduced chemical dosing.
Are you the official Australian supplier?
Yes. Aqualogic is the authorised AquaTherm dealer in Australia, covering supply, installation, commissioning and ongoing service and monitoring support.
