Laundry Design

Specifying an on-premise laundry that still works in ten years

Most laundry problems are design problems. Here's how we approach layout, utilities and linen flow before a single machine is chosen.

The best laundries are designed, not assembled. When we're brought in at plan stage, the first conversation is never about machines, it's about linen: how much, how often, how it moves through the room, and what happens on the worst day of the year rather than an average one.

From there, layout and utilities do most of the heavy lifting. Correct separation of soiled and clean, adequate power and water, drainage in the right place, and enough space around each machine for a technician to work all cost very little on paper and a great deal to retrofit.

Equipment selection comes last, and it becomes straightforward once the operating profile is clear.
