How to fold your sheets and towels correctly

January 10, 2018

There’s something very satisfying about a freshly washed pile of linens that is folded to perfection. They smell good and they look immaculate.

But neatly folded sheets and towels not only look fresh and appealing, they also store much easier, taking up less space and improving efficiency for staff when collecting clean linens.

Here are a few tips on how to fold your sheets and towels correctly:

Warm fold

Where possible, always fold sheets and towels while they are still warm. It is recommended to do this as soon as the dryer has finished its cycle. This will ensure that creases are kept to a minimum.

Allowing these items to cool will increase the occurrence of unsightly creases. Creases in cool linens will set in place and be harder to smooth down later on.

Use a flat surface

Due to the size of sheets and towels, it is much easier to use a flat surface to fold on. The use of folding tables will allow you to spread the item flat on the table, making the folding process much more manageable.

3rd arm folders

If you have one employee folding sheets, they may benefit from using a 3rd arm folder. This mechanism allows one person to fold a sheet using a folding arm appliance and a foot-operated sheet pincher.
